My name is Leo D. Agnew. This letter is to announce my intention to run for the office of National Director of the Korean War Veterans Association for the years 2008-2011.
I served in Korea from 1950-1952 with the 187th ARCT, Pathfinders, Intelligence/Reconnaissance. I served in the following areas: Inje; Uijongbu; Wonton-Ni; Opari; Hajoyane-ni, and Punji-Pass as well as other locations. I earned the rank of Sergeant First Class, and was given an Honorable Discharge after ten (10) years of service in the U.S. Army Airborne. Following that, I pursued a career in Law Enforcement, and earned my degree in Criminology.
My service as a Life Member (LR36218) and the Korean War Veterans Association, Inc., and Chapter 300, Boston, Massachusetts, includes service as you National Judge Advocate (JA) for the past two (2) years. I have also served through the chairs of the VFW and American Legion. I have been Chairman, Judge Advocate, and Secretary of the LTG James M. Gavin Chapter, 82nd Airborne Division Association, New England.
I am a Life Member of the following Veterans Organizations: Military Order, Purple Heart; Veterans Of Foreign Wars; Disabled American Veterans; 82nd Airborne Association; C-47 Club; Pathfinders Association; Korean War veterans Association, and the Canadian Airborne Forces Association My service also includes membership in the 187th Rakkasan’s 11th Airborne Division Association, and the American Legion, 173rd Airborne Brigade Association.
I am 76, in good health, and widowed. My concerns are for the betterment of the Korean War Veterans Association, Inc., and all of its members, and to strive for the KWVA’s continued success.. I pledge to be at every member’s beck-and-call to help in every possible way for their needs.
If elected I will attend all called meetings of the Board of Directors, and understand that two (2) un-excused meetings could be used for removal from office.
